Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith have a 'grown marriage'.
After recent comments from Jada caused speculation the pair
have an open marriage, she took to her Facebook page to insist the couple have
a mature relationship but they don't see other people.
She wrote: 'Let me first say this, there are far more
important things to talk about in regards to what is happening in the world
than whether I have an open marriage or not.
'Will and I BOTH can do WHATEVER we want, because we TRUST
each other to do so. This does NOT mean we have an open relationship...this
means we have a GROWN one (sic).'
Speculation about their marriage was rife after Jada, 41,
addressed reports of an open marriage by saying the secret to their happy
relationship is that they are independent people.
She explained: 'I've always told Will, "You can do
whatever you want as long as you can look at yourself in the mirror and be OK".
Because at the end of the day, Will is his own man. I'm here as his partner, but
he is his own man. He has to decide who he wants to be and that's not for me to
do for him. Or vice versa."
Jada - who is mum to actor Jaden, 14, singer Willow, 12 - recently credited their strong friendship with helping their marriage to survive long past the Hollywood average.
She explained: 'Will is my best friend. He's been by my side for some of the most difficult parts of my life. You always have that for your foundation.'

On December 31, 1997 they get married, about 100 guests attended their wedding at The Cloisters, near her hometown of Baltimore, Maryland. Regarding her marriage, Pinkett Smith said that they are "private people" and told one interviewer, "I will throw my career away before I let it break up our marriage. I made it clear to Will. I'd throw it away completely."
Pinkett Smith and Smith have two children, Jaden Christopher Syre Smith (born July 8, 1998 in Malibu, California), Willow Camille Reign Smith (born October 31, 2000 in Los Angeles, California). She also has a stepson from Will's first marriage: Trey Smith.
Smith commented in 2008 on their parenting styles: "We're not strict but we definitely believe it's a very important component for rearing children. It creates safety for them. They understand that they need guidance." Jaden and Willow are attending public school once again. The family resides in a 27,000 square foot (2,500 m2) home, on 100 acres (40 ha), in Malibu.
